about cat
I am a writer and teacher based in Philadelphia.
I teach two writing workshops for adults each year, one in the Fall and one in the Spring. Each workshop has a different theme, usually linked to what I am exploring in my own work at that time. In general, I am particularly interested in teaching writing process and sentence-making.
As a “writing doula,” I also provide one-on-one coaching and editing for writers working on book-length projects.
I have degrees in English literature from Harvard University and the University of Cape Town, and an MFA in fiction writing from Columbia University, where I was the recipient of De Alba and Undergraduate Writing Program fellowships. My short fiction has appeared in The Fairy Tale Review, Action, Spectacle!, The South Dakota Review, New Contrast, and The Missouri Review, where my piece won the journal’s Peden prize for best story in the volume year. I was a finalist for a 2023 Shirley Jackson Award for novelette.
